House Bill 1448, sponsored by Rep. Edward G. Staback, D-Archbald-Eynon, authorizes the Pennsylvania Game Commission to issue permits for foxhound training preserves and allows foxes to be used for the training. The House Game and Fisheries Committee recommended HB 1448 by a vote of 24 to 2. The legislation aims to provide houndsmen with places to prepare their foxhounds for hunts, similar to beagle clubs. Several Pennsylvania houndsmen's groups expressed a need for such a facility. The sportsmen worked with Rep. Staback to develop and introduce HB 1448. Take Action! Pennsylvania sportsmen should contact their state representatives and encourage them to vote yes on HB 1448. Tell them that the bill will provide sportsmen with opportunities to train their hunting dogs. To find your legislator or for contact information, call (717) 787-2372.
