It awaits the governor's signature. Assembly Bill 106, sponsored by Rep. Scott Gunderson, R-Waterford, allows a licensed bear hunter to transfer his or her license to a minor, providing young sportsmen with more hunting opportunities. The legislation waits for Gov. Jim Doyle's (D) signature. It passed the house by a unanimous voice vote and the senate by a vote of 32 to 1. Wisconsin currently uses a preference system to distribute a limited number of bear hunting licenses. The system makes it difficult for youth to obtain the permits. The Wisconsin Bear Hunters Association and the Department of Natural Resources worked closely with Rep. Gunderson in creating the legislation. Take Action! Wisconsin sportsmen should contact Gov. Jim Doyle and urge him to sign AB 106. Let him know that AB 106 will provide young sportsmen with an exciting hunting opportunity, which will keep them involved in conservation efforts for years to come. Sportsmen can contact Gov. Doyle at (608) 266-1212. CopyrightÓ U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance- www.ussportsmen.org
