PeTA billboard features former KKK leader (11/18/2002)

Louisiana-

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the animal rights group known for its controversial advertisements, launched the latest in a string of outrageous anti-dairy campaigns in Louisiana.

A PETA billboard was erected in Shreveport that shows former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke with a “milk mustache.” The slogan reads, "Got (lactose) intolerance? The white stuff ain't the right stuff."

According the an Associated Press report, PETA spokesman Bruce Friedrich said Duke is the perfect milk-industry poster child since he is identified by many as being intolerant.

Ad agencies in Baton Rouge and New Orleans refused to erect the PETA billboard, but the billboard in Shreveport cost the organization $2,400 and will be up for about a month.
